The purpose of this course is to convey the proper sequence and application of Basic Cardiac Life Support techniques. This course will emphasize standard assessment and application skills as recommended by the American Heart Association, International Guidelines for Emergency Cardiac Care. Upon completion of this course, a BCLS (CPR) card will be issued by the American Heart Association signifying attainment of the skill level which each individual participant has obtained.
There are three components to the Heartcode and eLearning courses.
- Part 1. Students complete the online, cognitive portion of the course, either at the workplace or anywhere with Internet access. When students finish the online portion, a certificate of completion will be available for them to print. The certificate is required to complete Part 2 at an authorized American Heart Association Training Center.
- Part 2. Students complete the skills training / practice test with an American Heart Association Instructor.
- Part 3. Students complete the skills validation test with an American Heart Association Instructor.
Upon successful completion of all three parts, students will be issued an American Heart Association Provider Course Completion Card for the discipline completed.
